About us...
SAA was started by Southlake art teacher, Monica Lapierre-Hayslip, in
October 2004 as a response to Carroll ISD cutting K-8 art programs in half.
All art programs have since been restored.
A veteran art teacher of 14+ years, Mrs. Lapierre-Hayslip recognized the need
in Southlake, TX and surrounding communities for quality art instruction from
an educator and artist in all mediums and for all ages. With a B.A. from
Boston College in Studio Art and an M.S.Ed. from Nazareth College of
Rochester, NY in Elementary Education, Mrs. Lapierre-Hayslip opened the
doors with 50+ students. Since October 2004, she has served over 300+
students. All classes are taught in her Southlake, TX classroom .

| Our teaching philosophy.... Art students learn best from a facilitator and each other, when grouped with students of the same developmental level. All students explore 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional mediums + techniques and related historical artists. |
